About Us

Welcome to the Punjab TB Control Program – a dedicated public health initiative working tirelessly to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in Punjab. Our program operates under the Department of Health, Punjab, and aligns with the National TB Control Program and global strategies to combat this preventable and curable disease.

Our Mission

To lead the fight against TB in Punjab by ensuring early detection, effective treatment, and prevention through innovative approaches, equitable healthcare access, and community engagement.

Our Vision

A TB-free Punjab where every individual has access to quality healthcare, free from the burden of tuberculosis.

What We Do

The Punjab TB Control Program is at the forefront of combating tuberculosis by implementing evidence-based strategies and leveraging advanced tools to detect, treat, and prevent the disease. Key aspects of our work include:

  • TB Detection and Diagnosis: Deploying advanced diagnostic tools such as GeneXpert machines, chest X-ray vans, and microscopy labs to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis.
  • Treatment Services: Providing free and uninterrupted access to WHO-recommended TB treatments, including care for drug-resistant TB cases.
  • Community Engagement: Empowering communities through awareness campaigns, training healthcare providers, and engaging Lady Health Workers (LHWs) for early case detection.
  • Innovative Interventions: Implementing Active Case Finding (ACF), mobile chest camps, and digital monitoring systems to enhance outreach and case notification.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Working closely with national and international stakeholders, including The Global Fund, WHO, and local health organizations, to strengthen TB care and prevention.

Our Achievements

With a relentless focus on eliminating TB, the program has achieved significant milestones:

  • Enhanced case notification rates across Punjab.
  • Established modernized TB clinics in secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities.
  • Strengthened capacity with COBAS machines and temperature-controlled logistics for drug management.
  • Increased public awareness about TB prevention and treatment through strategic campaigns.
